Iliyasu S. Yahaya, Abuja – Nigeria

The recent concern expressed by Donald Trump over human lives in Nigeria has drawn attention to the stark contrast in his administration’s stance on Gaza. Israeli forces, close allies of the Trump administration, have continued their demolition and destruction around Gaza City, sparking widespread criticism and concern over human rights.

Critics argue that Trump’s focus on Nigeria’s security situation appears misplaced when compared to his administration’s actions towards Palestinians in Gaza. The Israeli government’s plan to demolish Gaza’s civilian infrastructure and concentrate the population into a tiny area has been widely condemned as a potential war crime and ethnic cleansing.

The international community has expressed alarm over Trump’s proposal to “take over” Gaza, which is seen as a plan to forcibly displace Palestinians and undermine their right to self-determination. The UN has condemned the proposal as a blatant violation of international law and human rights.

As the situation in Gaza continues to deteriorate, many are questioning the sincerity of Trump’s concern for human lives in Nigeria, given his administration’s support for Israel’s actions in Gaza.
