Governor Uba Sani of Kaduna State has announced a significant 50% reduction in tuition fees for all state-owned tertiary institutions. This move aims to remove barriers to higher education and make it more accessible to students from low-income backgrounds. The governor made this announcement during the inauguration of the Kaduna State University chapter of the Kaduna State Students Union. He expressed gratitude to the students for conferring him with the Sword of Honour Award, recognizing his administration’s achievements. Some of the key initiatives highlighted by Governor Sani include:

  1. Road Construction: Over 78 road projects covering 775 kilometers, with many already completed
  2. Healthcare: Remodeling General Hospitals and upgrading 255 healthcare centers
  3. Education Infrastructure: Building new schools and refurbishing existing ones to create a more conducive learning environment

The Students’ Union praised Governor Sani for his commitment to education, citing the reduction in tuition fees, establishment of new faculties, and facilitation of the CBN Intervention Project for the Faculty of Engineering at KASU. The union also commended his directive allowing students to sit for examinations regardless of outstanding fees.

Governor Sani urged students to maintain peace and avoid agents of disunity and chaos, emphasizing that meaningful development cannot be achieved in a state of chaos and mutual mistrust. He expressed confidence in the students as reliable partners in progress, citing their conduct during his tenure.
