The Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) has uncovered another alleged fake federal agency operating in Nigeria, prompting President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to order the arrest of its suspected promoter and the immediate suspension of three Federal Permanent Secretaries.
The Commission disclosed this on Friday, August 21, 2026, following investigations into the activities of the alleged fake agency identified as the “National Brands Development and Made in Nigeria Special Project Office.”
According to the ICPC, the agency is allegedly being promoted by one George Buchi Nwabueze, with suspected active collaboration from some senior public servants in the Office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (OSGF).
Chairman of the ICPC, Dr Musa Adamu Aliyu, SAN, made the disclosure at the State House, Aso Villa, Abuja, while briefing journalists after presenting the findings to President Tinubu.
The Commission said its latest discovery emerged from fresh findings in its ongoing investigation into another alleged fake government body, the Presidential Foreign Intervention Promotion Council (PFIPC), allegedly promoted by Adeniyi Adeyemi Matthew.
The ICPC said investigations revealed that the suspected promoter of the newly uncovered fake agency operates under several variants of his name, including Prince George Buchi Nwabueze, George Nathan, George Nathan Nwabueze, Hon. George Buchi Nwabueze and George Nwabueze.
Following the ICPC chairman’s briefing, President Tinubu ordered the immediate arrest of Nwabueze and directed the suspension of three Permanent Secretaries in the OSGF.
Those affected are: Ms Danjuma, Engr. Nandungu Gagare, Richard Pheelangwa.
The Commission said the development forms part of its broader efforts to expose fraudulent structures and individuals allegedly operating under the guise of government agencies.
The ICPC reiterated its commitment to the rule of law and due process in its ongoing fight against corruption and other related offences.
The Commission said further details would emerge as investigations into the matter progress.
