Abuja, Nigeria.

A Committee of concerned and committed elders from Kogi East who has been advocating for the creation of Okura state, led by Chief Robert Audu, has taken another significant step forward in its quest for the creation of additional local government areas.

The committee presented a memorandum to the National Assembly today, seeking consequential legislation for the creation of additional local government areas from the existing ones in Ankpa, Bassa, Dekina, Ibaji, Idah, Igalamela, Ofu, and Omala.

Accompanying Chief Audu were other notable members of the committee, including Dr. Yakubu Ugwolawo, DG Difri, Alfa Ibn Mustapha, and Hon. Salihu Ameh.

The memorandum was received and acknowledged by the National Assembly, marking a crucial milestone in the journey towards the demand ofthecommittee. It is worth noting that the local government areas in question were initially created by Prince Abubakar but were later abolished. The committee is now seeking to reactivate these local governments through legislation.

This development has sparked optimism among supporters of the Okura state creation, who believe that it will pave the way for the realization of their dream.

As the process unfolds, the committee and stakeholders will be closely watching the National Assembly’s response and the subsequent steps that will be taken to bring the dream of the creation of Okura state and the activation of more local government to reality
