Frontline Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) chieftain and former Kwara Central senatorial aspirant, Hon. Moshood Mustapha, has endorsed Senator Saliu Mustapha as the party’s candidate for the Kwara Central Senatorial District in the 2027 general election.
Mustapha, popularly known as MM and the Wakili Ngeri of Ilorin, made his position known while addressing supporters during his Maolud Nabiyy celebration at his private residence in GRA, Ilorin.
He described Senator Saliu Mustapha’s emergence as the PDP’s candidate as the will of Almighty Allah, urging his supporters and political associates to accept the development and work collectively towards the party’s victory in the 2027 elections.
“I am wholeheartedly at peace with the decision of the party, and I declare my total support for the election of my brother, the Turaki of Ilorin,” he said.
Mustapha further called on his supporters to put the development behind them and unite for the success of the PDP at the polls.
“I urge all my supporters to accept the development as the will of Almighty Allah and work with me to deliver the PDP in the coming elections,” he added.
Reacting to the development, a public affairs analyst, Mallam Sanusi Abdulfatah, described the resolution of the PDP’s senatorial ticket as an indication of the leadership ability of former Senate President, Dr. Bukola Saraki.
Abdulfatah contrasted Saraki’s handling of the PDP’s internal processes with the situation in the ruling party in Kwara State under Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq.
“From the start of the primaries process to the emergence of candidates, and till date, Dr. Saraki has shown that he is a world apart from Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq in terms of leadership quality and ability,” he said.
According to him, the latest development would enable the electorate to assess the leadership styles of the major political actors in the state.
“The public is taking notes of this difference, and they can tell who is a leader and who is a dictator,” Abdulfatah said.
