Iliyasu S. Yahaya
Abuja, Nigeria

Former Kaduna State Governor, Mallam Nasir El-Rufai, has warned that Nigeria cannot achieve lasting peace unless security agencies are allowed to operate strictly within their constitutional mandates.

Speaking on the state of national security, El-Rufai cautioned against the politicisation and misuse of security institutions, noting that such practices weaken public trust and undermine stability.

He stressed that for peace and unity to prevail, security agencies must remain professional, neutral, and focused on protecting lives and property, rather than serving political interests.
